Every Sunday afternoon, worship can be heard in various languages
It usually takes place right after Brøndby Strand Church’s main Sunday service, but while the Danish congregation gathers around the faith in the sanctuary and sings hymns by Grundtvig or Ingemann, the migrant congregation meets in the adjacent meeting rooms, and beautiful voices together with colourful music flow out from the many who gather around the Christian faith.
It is the Parochial Council of Brøndby Strand Church that has opened its doors to the migrant congregations so they can meet a couple of times a week.
Every Friday evening, there is a prayer meeting where you come and go as you wish within a certain time frame.
On Sundays, two different congregations gather for worship
The services are open to everyone, and if you visit them on a Sunday, you will notice that the form of expression and the musical style differ significantly from what we know in the Danish National Church. The music is more rhythmic, the sermon longer, and the praise livelier, appearing at first glance as what some would describe as more heartfelt and passionate.
Theology and forms of expression may vary—just as they do in the Danish National Church—but our two migrant congregations and we ourselves profess faith in the Triune God and understand Jesus as our Lord and the Saviour of the world. Therein we are the same.
The Parochial Council believes it is important that, as the national and majority church in this country, we take responsibility as a host church and share our facilities with migrant congregations.
Our relationship with the two congregations is friendly, and we meet a few times a year for events such as the communal meal “Middag på Tværs” and the international deanery service, where the purpose is to get to know one another and thereby break down prejudices and become mutually inspired.
