In Brøndby Strand Church

It usually takes place right after the main Sunday service at Brøndby Strand Church, but while the Danish congregation gathers in the church hall and sings hymns by Grundtvig or Ingemann, the migrant congregation meets in the adjacent meeting rooms, where beautiful voices and colourful music flow from the many gathered around the Christian faith.
The Parish Council of Brøndby Strand Church has opened its doors to migrant congregations, so they can meet a couple of times a week.
Every Friday evening they gather for a prayer meeting, which functions somewhat similar to what we know as a Danish reception — people come and go as they please within a certain time frame.
On Sundays, two different congregations hold their services.
The services are open to everyone, and if you visit on a Sunday, you will discover that the form of expression and musical style is considerably different from what we know from the Danish national church. The music is more rhythmic, the sermon longer, and the praise more lively — immediately coming across as what some might describe as more heartfelt and passionate.
Theology and expression may vary — just as they do within the Danish national church — but our two migrant congregations and we ourselves profess faith in a Triune God and understand Jesus as our Lord and the Saviour of the world. In that, we are alike.
The Parish Council believes it is important that, as a national church, we are aware of our responsibility as host- and majority church in this country, and thus share our facilities with migrant congregations.
Our relationship with the two congregations is friendly, and we meet a few times a year for events such as the shared meal "Middag På Tværs" and the international deanery service, where the intention is to get to know one another and thereby break down prejudices and find mutual inspiration.
